With reference to "Ashursts forges Italian alliance" (The Lawyer, 30 June), the article painted a very negative picture of Graham & James LLP's activities in Europe.
In addition to offices and affiliates in the US, Asia, Australia and the Middle East, Graham & James has an office in Milan, another in London and an affiliation in Dusseldorf.
The Milan office's client list is diverse, as since 1965, we have represented Italian, US and Pacific Rim clients engaged in a range of business activity in Italy. We represent Italian fashion designers and makers including Mila Schon, Pal Zileri and Verri Group as well as the foreign licensees of Valentino and Trussardi; telecommunications companies Trucco and Sitel UK in their dealings with Lucent Technologies and Olivetti respectively; Bank of America, NationsBank, Boeing, Seagram, Mitsui, Itochu, Sakura Bank and others.
In the last year, the Milan office has enhanced its finance corporate practice and developed a securitisation practice. Most recently, we have been extremely active in the areas of high-tech telecommunications and corporate securitisation for companies in Italy and throughout Europe.
The Milan office now has eight attorneys, two of whom are of counsel, and we are laying the groundwork for continued growth over the balance of 1998. We are engaged in discussions with intellectual property practitioners in both law firm and academic settings, in anticipation of the likelihood that we will further grow in breadth and depth.
Readers wishing to know more about Graham & James and its lawyers are invited to call or write to us. We thank you for this opportunity.
