Competition partner Elaine Johnston, who was also diversity executive partner White & Case, has joined the magic circle firm’s New York base. She had been at White & Case since 1993.
In a statement the US firm said: “Elaine Johnston has made many close friends at White & Case, and we wish her success in her future endeavours.”
The news comes after White & Case suffered a series of defections across its global network.
At the end of January the firm lost a four-partner banking team to Latham & Watkins (29 January 2010). A few days later eight further partners left for Latham, with the firm’s offices in Abu Dhabi, London, New York and Riyadh all taking a hit (1 February 2010).
On 5 February White & Case’s final remaining Middle East office head announced that he too was leaving to join Latham (5 February 2010).
A&O declined to comment.
