Rosemary Martin (pictured) will take Scott’s place as group general counsel and company secretary from 1 April.
Martin joins from legal market intelligence provider Practical Law Group, where she was CEO. Before joining Practical Law Group, she spent 11 years with Reuters as head of legal, after nine years as partner in Mayer Brown’s corporate department.
In July 2008, Martin was named as one of first members of the Legal Services Board, which serves as regulator for the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board (21 July 2009).
“[Rosemary] brings in a wealth of experience from prestigious companies and will be an asset to Vodafone moving forward,” said Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao.
“At the same time I would like to extend my thanks to Stephen who has made a very significant contribution to the company since its inception and has played a key role in helping build Vodafone into what we are today. Rosemary will be working closely with Stephen in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.”
Martin’s role is group-wide and Justine Campbell, who joined from Telefonica Europe in 2009 (18 May 2009), remains as legal and government affairs director for Vodafone UK.
Scott joined the company in 1980, when it was known as Racal Electronics, and was made general counsel for Vodafone in 1991, when Racal-Vodafone demerged.
