Sullivan & Cromwell has revamped its European management, appointing one London managing partner in place of the current two.
Richard Morrissey takes over today from Rob Schlein and Vanessa Blackmore, who have been co-managing partners of the US firm’s London office since 2008.
Schlein will split his time between London and New York, while Blackmore, who joined the firm in 2006 to launch its UK corporate practice, is to remain in London.
Morrissey was co-head of the firm’s global private equity group and the European M&A group. London partner Tim Emmerson becomes head of M&A in Europe, while George Sampas in New York takes over as global private equity head.
Corporate partner Craig Jones has been appointed London office administrative partner.
Firm chairman Joseph Shenker said: “Europe is a key component to our global growth strategy, and Richard, Craig and Tim will continue to guide our efforts in this area.”
