Slaughter and May’s French best friend Bredin Prat has hired a judge of the French supreme court to develop its public law practice.
Yann Aguila, who has sat as a judge in the Conseil d’Etat since 1990, will join Bredin Prat as head of its public law practice in September.
He will advise on all aspects of public law, public business law and environmental law, focusing particularly on the public and state-owned sector.
To date, Bredin Prat has not focused much on public law although it is regarded as one of France’s top corporate law firms.
Other firms in Paris have also been building up their public law departments recently. Notably, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer hired a three-strong team from Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker earlier this year (23 March 2011).
