Leading Singapore firm Rajah & Tann has kickstarted a push into Asia Pacific with the launch of two new offices, in Ho Chi Minh and Bangkok respectively.

The firm, one of Singapore’s ‘Big Four’, now has more than 300 lawyers across six offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Vientiane, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok.

The new Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok offices both have local law capability. The Ho Chi Minh office is staffed by four legal professionals while the Bangkok office has six Thai lawyers. Prior to the establishment of the two offices, the firm’s Singapore-based Vietman and Thai desks have already actively engaged in regional work. The new offices will provide additional support to the existing desks.

“Both Thailand and Vietnam are an important part of the growth we are experiencing in ASEAN and our new offices in these countries are important additions to our service model to meet clients’ legal requirements throughout Asia,” said Lee Eng Beng, the firm’s managing partner and senior counsel.

The firm announced its plan a year ago to build a Pan-Asian law firm that can compete on par with the international big names that are making their way to the world’s fastest growing region.

With the new offices and the strong economic growth perspectives in Asia, the firm expects its revenue from regional and international work to double to 50 per cent of the firm’s total revenue in five years.
