Norton Rose adds Allen & Overy partner to City finance team

Norton Rose has ratcheted up its City finance offering with the hire of former Allen & Overy (A&O) partner David Shearer.

Shearer, who is dual-qualified in New Zealand and England and Wales,  acts for financial institutions, covering structured finance, securitisation, bond issuances and restructuring.

He had been a partner in A&O’s capital markets group for nine years, leaving the magic circle firm in January this year, according to Companies House filings.

Shearer advised lead arrangers Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers on the securitisation of the Canary Wharf Estate in 2007 (8 May 2007).

Norton Rose securitisation head Sandrine Sauvel commented in a statement: “David will be a great addition to the team. David brings experience of leading groundbreaking transactions and in-depth knowledge of the structured finance markets.”

His departure follows the exit of A&O corporate partner Anna Buscall to US firm Arnold & Porter (27 February 2011), while the magic circle firm  has also confirmed that London US securities partner Daniel Epstein has left the firm, though his destination is unclear.
