Nineham, who was appointed London office head today, joined McDermott in April 2008 from Lovells, where he was previously head of the firm’s international corporate practice and a member of the international executive committee.

During his time at the US firm McDermott’s London office has endured a turbulent period that has seen a number of partner exits and hires as well as the establishment and extension of several practice groups.

These include energy with the hire of David Birchall from Denton Wilde Sapte and private client following the hires of Martyn Gowar from LG and Andrew Vergunst from professional services firm Maitland.

“We’ve been looking for some time at building an equivalent strength in London in areas such as private client to what we already have in the US,” said Nineham. “We’ll definitely be focusing on growing and integrating these practices as we move forward.”

Ezickson will remain in the London office and plans to return to full-time practice while becoming head of McDermott’s international energy and commodities practices.
