The independent TV production company that makes MasterChef and One Born Every Minute has hired a new legal chief.
The Shine Group has appointed BBC Worldwide director of legal Richard Parsons to the role of chief counsel.
Parsons will take up the position in the spring of this year, reporting to Shine Group CEO and chairman Elisabeth Murdoch.
Murdoch said: “Richard’s a highly respected, senior legal professional whose broad experience in international and domestic production businesses will be of huge value across Shine Group.”
He is currently director of corporate finance and legal at BBC Worldwide, which he joined in 2002. He has also worked at Clifford Chance, in private equity and as legal director at GE Capital Europe.
Murdoch set up Shine in 2001 and between 2006 and 2009 revenues grew from $38m (£24m) to $400m (£252m), with a spread across 10 countries.
BBC Worldwide did not respond to a request for comment.
