Linklaters has named India head Sandeep Katwala as the new managing partner of its Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) practice.
Katwala will succeed Stuart Salt who takes over as the magic circle firm’s Asia chief next week.
Katwala, a partner since 2000, will continue in his role as the head of the India practice, a position he has held for the past six years.
Linklaters managing partner Simon Davies said: “I’m delighted to welcome Sandeep as regional managing partner – EEMEA. The CEE, Middle East, Russia/CIS and Africa are important and dynamic markets. Furthermore, we’re seeing increasing cross-border activity between the EEMEA region and Asia including India.
“Sandeep’s broad experience in Asia, including his success in building our India practice, makes him ideally suited to this key leadership role.”
Next week will see several partners take up new management positions at the firm.
Jeremy Parr will take over as global head of corporate, Marc Harvey will become global litigation chief, and John Turnbull will succeed John Tucker as managing partner for the Americas.
