What the world needs now is more management consultants. That’s what Addleshaws’ Mark Jones thinks, anyway.
Jones – now chairman and formerly managing partner at the national firm – has come up with a novel way of integrating himself back into private practice.
With more than 15 years at the helm, he’s not likely to have kept many of his old clients, so he’s turning himself into a mini-profit centre.
Jones, together with partnerships LLP expert Richard Linsell and client services director Jim Hever, are cooking up an entirely new Addleshaws business line: advising other professional practices on how to run their business (see story), thereby going head-to-head with the likes of Tony Williams at Jomati and Addleshaws’ usual external consultant, Alan Hodgart.
There is some irony here. Addleshaws – and Jones in particular – is famous for making savage cuts in its partnership numbers. The firm axed 19 partners in one go earlier this year (see story). With most firms still searching for efficiencies to improve and costs to cut, the trio could hardly have picked a better time to launch the Addleshaws consultancy.
We’re not sure, but Jones, Linsell and Hever have probably already thought up their own advertising tagline: our guess is ‘bold, bloody and resolute”.
