Head of 1 Hare Court joins High Court bench

Family set 1 Hare Court’s chambers head Philip Moor QC has been appointed to the High Court bench, the  Ministry of Justice (MoJ) announced this morning.

The Lord Chief Justice Lord Judge has assigned Moor to the family division where he will replace Mr Justice McFarlane, who has been elevated to the Court of Appeal (CoA). The moves will come into effect at the start of the Michaelmas term (3 October).

In July the MoJ announced a series of changes to the High Court bench with Matrix Chambers’ Rabinder Singh QC joining the Queen’s Bench Division (QBD) following the elevation of Mr Justice Kitchin to the CoA (29 July 2011).

Singh is joined in the QBD by Brick Court’s Andrew Popplewell QC, who replaces Mr Justice Davis, who will also join the CoA. Also joining the QBD is Quadrant Chambers’ Charles Haddon-Cave QC, following the retirement of Mr Justice Steel at the end of October and the former head of Exchange Chambers, Judge Henry Brian Globe QC.
