Gowlings has given its London energy, infrastructure and mining group a boost by hiring Pinsent Masons’ UK head of project finance.
Nicholas Iliff will join Gowlings as a partner in London in the firm’s energy, infrastructure and mining group. Iliff specialises in public-private partnership projects, and over the past 11 years has closed more then 70 project finance deals acting for banks, borrowers and procuring authorities.
Canadian firm Gowlings has had an office in London since 2008. Over the past year it has hired a general counsel from British energy (1 October 2010) and Unilever (8 April 2011), a former Norton Rose partner (6 October 2011) and a partner from Simmons & Simmons (10 November 2010) for its London office.
In September 2011 the firm announced it was opening an office in Beijing (30 September 2011).
