City firm Fisher Meredith has hired BCL Burton Copeland solicitor Diane Calnan to head its criminal law and regulatory team.
The senior solicitor has worked on major fraud cases including an international money-laundering sting called Operation Cotton and an alleged £100m tax avoidance scheme prosecuted by the CPS.
Calnan said of her move: “Having benefited tremendously from the experience gained at BCL Burton Copeland in preparing serious crime and fraud cases, some of which were very high profile, I was keen to bring that expertise to a firm of Fisher Meredith’s reputation and to be an integral part of the development of the criminal law team, building on the firm’s reputation for excellent service to its clients and specialist expertise in criminal practice.”
Fisher Meredith managing partner Stephen Hewitt said: “We’re delighted that a criminal lawyer of Diane’s experience and expertise has joined us as part of the development of our services.”
Calnan is a serving committee member of the Young Fraud Lawyers’ Association, the Association of Women Solicitors and the Female Fraud Forum.
