The new batch represents the biggest intake of new partners since 2008, when 69 were made up.

The US had the largest number of new partners at 22, followed by Continental Europe, where 17 new partners were made up. Across DLA Piper’s UK offices 12 partners have been promoted while seven made the grade in the Asia Pacific region.

In terms of practice groups, corporate was the most heavily represented with 13 promotions, followed by IP and technology (11), litigation and regulatory (10), finance and projects (eight), employment, pensions and benefits (six), real estate (five), tax (three) and restructuring (one).

The promotions took effect from 1 January in the US, and 1 May across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

In a statement, DLA Piper global co-chairman Tony Angel said: “These promotions demonstrate our significant strengths across each region and within each practice area and are testament to the talent that resides within the firm.”
