Dewey partner losses hit 54 as private equity duo quits

Dewey & LeBoeuf has lost a further two City partners, with recently-recruited private equity duo Mark Davis and Russell Van Praagh quitting to join McDermott Will & Emery.

Both partners joined Dewey in the middle of last year from Taylor Wessing to launch the US firm’s London private equity practice (19 May 2011).

Their departure brings the number of Dewey partners to leave this firm in 2012 to 54, with Los Angeles partner David Smith quitting last week to join Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth in Santa Monica.

New York corporate finance Richard Spitzer also resigned last week, becoming the third Dewey partner to join Mayer Brown in a week (11 April 2012).

A Dewey spokesperson confirmed that Davis and Van Praagh had resigned but did not comment further. McDermott was not immediately available for comment.
