Curtis Mallet-Prevost launches in Kuwait

New York firm Curtis Mallet-Prevost Colt & Mosle has announced plans to extend its Middle Eastern footprint with the opening of an office in Kuwait.

Curtis Mallet-Prevost will enter the region alongside local firm Mashora Advocates and Legal Consultants, with David Pfeiffer, former managing partner of SNR Denton’s Kuwait office, to head the new base. He has joined Curtis Mallet-Prevost as a partner.

In a statement the firm said the move was part of the firm’s strategy to grow in the Middle East, where it already has offices in the Kazakh cities of Astana and Almaty, as well as Turkemenistan, where it opened last year (3 June 2011).

Curtis Mallet-Prevost will be the third international law firm to open an office in Kuwait, which has a market capitalisation of around $100bn. The two firms who planted their flag in the region first, DLA Piper and SNR Denton, bulked up in the country after a string of losses last year (24 October 2011).
