US firm Covington & Burling has hired an entire life sciences corporate team for its London office, taking four partners from Morrison & Foerster (MoFo).

Paul Claydon, MoFo’s London head of corporate, and London partners Natalie Diep, James Gubbins and James Halstead, will all join Covington & Burling in the next few weeks.

All four partners advise life sciences, technology and renewable energy clients on M&A, IPOs, and private equity and venture capital deals.

In a statement, Timothy Hester, chair of Covington’s management committee, said: “The addition of this team is an important further step in our strategic growth in Europe. They have a stellar reputation in both the life sciences and high tech sectors. They bring key capabilities and in-depth experience that will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”

With the arrival of the new partners, Covington & Burling will have 22 partners in London.

A spokesperson for MoFo said: “We wish Paul and his team well. Our corporate and litigation platform in London will continue to grow to serve global financial institutions, and technology and life-sciences companies.”

MoFo now has 15 partners in London.
