Ohio-headquartered Baker Hostetler has snapped up 17 lawyers from dissolved firm Howrey, including litigation co-chair Robert Abrams.
Seven partners, four counsel and four associates will join Baker Hostetler’s Washington DC base, with another two partners joining its Los Angeles office.
Abrams joins the firm as head of its national antitrust practice and will be based in DC alongside partners Gregory Baker, Robert Brookhiser, Gregory Commins, Gilbert Keteltas, Elizabeth McCallum, and Terry Sullivan. Partners Joanne Caruso and Joanne Lichtman will be based in Los Angeles.
In a statement released today Abrams said: “Baker Hostetler attorneys share a number of common clients with members of our group and we are delighted to be combining forces to continue to serve our clients.”
Howrey’s remaining partners voted to dissolve the firm earlier this month (10 March 2010), after its financial performance led to a mass exodus of partners.
On 18 March, Chicago-headquartered Winston & Strawn announced the arrival of 40 IP and commercial litigation lawyers in Houston (18 March 2011).
