Bird & Bird launches Cloud Computing iPad App with Brand Remedy

Bird & Bird has launched an iPad app covering commonly asked legal questions relating to cloud computing services across 11 jurisdictions.

Aimed at both suppliers and users of cloud services, the app covers the main issues that need to be considered when setting up a cloud service, and answers questions on how to ensure compliance with current regulations in given jurisdictions. It was developed with the help of award-winning branding agency Brand Remedy.

The app reviews issues of consumer protection, data protection, data portability, intellectual property, liability, security and the use of the cloud by the public sector.

Roger Bickerstaff, partner, Bird & Bird said: “Cloud computing services are inherently non-geographical but they are subject to legal rules on a country-by-country basis. This leads to complexities in understanding the legal environment that apply to cloud services provision. We recognise the need for clarity to this complex position, thus, we developed a Cloud Computing App which provides short answers to a range of the key legal issues associated with cloud service provision on a country-by-country basis” – he continued.

Countries covered include Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, UAE and the UK.
