Her appointment comes following former general counsel Christobelle Liao’s recent promotion to group director of corporate and legal.
“I will continue to support the group’s overall legal needs with a broader range of responsibilities. I will also work on our new London and Yangon hotel projects,” said Maurellet.
The HSH has recently purchased a 50 per cent interest in 1-5 Grosvenor Place in London for £132.5m to develop its first hotel in the UK – The Peninsula London. In the UK transaction, HSH instructed Clifford Chance’s London partner David Pearson and the seller Derwent London was advised by Slaughter and May’s London partner John Nevin.
In Myanmar, the group is in the process of developing a Peninsula hotel in Yangon.
