US firm Sullivan & Worcester dual partner hire builds London team

Boston-headquartered Sullivan & Worcester has moved to bolster its nascent London office through the hire of two finance partners in the City.

The firm has appointed former Dentons partner Simon Cook, who joined the London office last week, and Squire Sanders partner Mark Norris, who joined on Monday.

Their hires follow the appointment of a London boss in January when legacy SNR Dentons partner Geoff Wynne joined the firm to drive growth of the UK start-up (11 January 2013). He officially started his role in mid-October.

The London base, which now has seven lawyers, including three partners and four associates, marks the US firm’s first outside the States. While all the London partners currently specialise in international finance the office is set to gradually expand into new practice areas.

A growing number of US firms are considering launching in London, with US litigation powerhouse Boies Schiller & Flexner one of the latest to make the move (7 October 2013). In October the firm handed the reins to Bingham McCutchen partner Natasha Harrison, who will lead the firm’s first office outside the US.
