Essential Living, which develops and manages purpose built homes for rent, has revealed its first formal legal panel, which will remain in force for three years.
Each firm will specialise in at least one area of law, with Taylor Wessing and King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin (KWMSJB) being appointed with an over-arching brief to provide corporate, finance and delivery advice to the property company.
Cripps Harries Hall will pick up acquisitions and property litigation work. DAC Beachcroft will advise on acquisitions and planning, while Trowers and Hamlins will deliver construction and registered providers expertise. Forsters, Mishcon de Reya, Pinsent Masons and Winkworth Sherwood also won spots on the roster.
The appointments come as the business is set to begin construction work on three key sites around London.
Essential Living’s panel selection process took about three months to complete, with 18 firms initially pitching for a spot before being narrowed down to a final ten. The business has no general counsel, so procurement was led by an external consultant.
COO Martin Bellinger said in a statement: “After a fervent year of acquisitions, Essential Living will be very much evolving into a development business. As we increase the number of consultants we work with in delivering 5,000 homes for rent, it is vital we strive to achieve best value wherever possible and we are delighted to have finalised our legal panel.”
