Société Générale Group has named Christopher Davies as its new regional general counsel for Asia Pacific, as predecessor Mark Duncan promoted to a role in the Paris headquarters.
Davies joined Société Générale (SocGen) in 1997 and was the group’s head of compliance based in Paris prior to the latest appointment. He has relocated to Hong Kong for his new role as regional general counsel, legal and compliance in Asia Pacific.
Prior to becoming the head of compliance in 2002, he had held various legal and compliance roles in the group’s Asia unites, based in Singapore and Tokyo.
Davies has taken over the role from Mark Duncan, who has been appointed to general counsel for SocGen’s global banking and investor solutions arm. Duncan has relocated from Hong Kong to the group’s headquarters in Paris. He will report to Gérard Gardella, group general counsel and Dominique Bourrinet, deputy group general counsel. He replaces Bourrinet who has recently been promoted to deputy group general counsel.
Duncan joined SocGen in Tokyo in 2004, where he was the head of legal and compliance for SocGen Tokyo. He was appointed to his previous role as Asia Pacific general counsel in September 2010.
