A&O and HSF lose out as BG Group picks CC for new panel

Energy giant BG Group has cut its panel to three after dropping Allen & Overy (A&O) and Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) from the roster.

Clifford Chance (CC) has secured a new mandate for the group and will be used on a range of matters.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and CMS Cameron McKenna have retained their spots on the roster following an internal review led by general counsel Graham Vinter, a former A&O partner.

Vinter joined the group in 2007, taking the helm of the group’s 100-lawyer global legal team and becoming a member of the group’s executive committee (23 October 2007).

The new panel came into effect on 1 November.

CC’s appointment comes amid a number of panel reviews in recent weeks, with Virgin Group the most recent to launch a full audit of its legal advisory roster (12 November 2013).
