DLA Piper assists Roark Capital Group in equity investment in Anytime Fitness

DLA Piper has assisted Atlanta-based private equity firm Roark Capital Group in its equity investment in Anytime Fitness, a co-ed fitness franchise. 

DLA Piper has also advised Roark in connection with its acquisitions of franchise companies during the past eight years, including the acquisitions of Arby’s, Carl’s Jr./Hardees, Massage Envy, Corner Bakery Café, Batteries Plus, Primrose Schools and Auntie Anne’s.

The DLA Piper team representing Roark was led by Rich Greenstein, head of the firm’s franchise and distribution practice in the south east, along with franchise partners Joseph Sheyka and Gerald Wells, real-estate partner Caryn Englander, intellectual property partner Mark Feldman, environmental partner Gina Zawitoski and of-counsel Jennifer Kashatus (privacy and data security).

Associates from the firm who assisted on the transaction included Jennifer Lacroix (intellectual property) and Lindsay Morgan (franchise).
