Portuguese firm PLMJ has picked up tax partner Miguel C. Reis from the Porto office of Iberian giant Garrigues.
Reis joined Garrigues in 2006 and specialises in all areas of tax.
He becomes the fourth partner in PLMJ’s tax team, led by João Magalhães Ramalho.
Porto is one of three Portuguese offices for PLMJ, alongside Faro and the capital Lisbon. The office was launched in 2002 and there are over 20 lawyers based in the city.
PLMJ managing partner Manuel Santos Vitor said tax was a growing area for the firm and the hire would help it consolidate and strengthen both the practice area and the Porto office.
Reis’s departure leaves Garrigues with just one partner, employment and litigation specialist Rui Valente, in Porto.
