Morgan Lewis has swooped on Edwards Wildman’s London office hiring corporate head David Ramm, in a move that will raise further questions about the future of the group.
Ramm, a partner and head of the firm’s London’s business law (corporate) department, also heads Edwards Wildman’s London’s private equity and venture capital practices.
His exit comes as rumours continue to circulate about the future of Edwards Wildman’s London office and a number of departures, including private equity and emerging company specialist Shawn Atkinson, who joined Orrick last month (20 June 2014).
Edwards Wildman’s corporate partner Niall McAllister is also understood to have resigned but it is not yet known if he is joining another firm.
Last month The Lawyer reported that West Coast US firm Cooley was believed to be in talks with a number of Edwards Wildman’s London partners in preparation for a City launch (20 June 2014).
When contacted about both exits an Edwards Wildman spokesman said: “No comment.”
Morgan Lewis’ new hire Ramm, who has a background in engineering, specialises in private equity, venture capital and M&A covering a broad range of technology sectors, with particular expertise in the credit card and payment solutions sector.
