Dowler joined Misys as vice-president in 2008, having previously worked in-house for BAE Systems, Sun Microsystems and SAP.

Kilroy left Misys in June to join biotechnology company Genus (13 June 2013). He joined the company in 2009 and was made interim CEO in 2012 following the departure of Mike Lawrie (8 February 2012).

Dowler said he worked closely with Kilroy over the past year.

“In some ways, my appointment now as GC reflects the value we continue to place on the combination of relevant legal skills and business management experience. In this respect, I would like to feel that Misys is setting the benchmark in UK industry for appointing senior executives who can bring both of these elements to their role,” he added.
