Hogan Lovells has announced that Michael Gilligan has joined the law firm’s corporate practice as a partner in the New York office. He joins from Allen & Overy where he was a partner in the corporate and M&A practice.
Gilligan’s work focuses on both cross-border and domestic public and private M&A transactions, including significant representation of financial sponsors and portfolio companies. He has represented clients in proxy contests and spin-off transactions, and issuers in initial public offerings, secondary equity offerings, Rule 144A offerings and exchange offers.
Gilligan brings considerable expertise with insurance industry transactions, complementing Hogan Lovells’ recent additions to its corporate insurance practice. He has also focused recently on Latin American transactions, another area where Hogan Lovells in New York has shown growth.
Gilligan holds a JD from Fordham University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude, and a BS from the Johns Hopkins University.
