UK construction data provides conflicting gauge of industry temperature, says Eversheds

Michael Conroy Harris, construction expert at Eversheds, has commented on the latest indicators on the health of the UK construction industry.

Harris said: ‘After a seemingly endless winter, the RICS [Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors] survey suggests that the construction industry is now going to work without an overcoat, confident that the cold snap is over.

‘On the other hand, the ONS [Office for National Statistics] figures are telling us the temperature is not quite as warm as some might think. It seems to me that the industry will need to keep a weather eye on all the data as the industry returns to growth.’
