The European Commission has a raft of pending legislation in this sector and has set itself the ambitious (and now unlikely) target of passing it by the end of the current parliament in May. The flagship legislation is the so-called Connected Continent suite of proposals, intended to build a connected, competitive continent, increase competition and enhance consumer experience while stimulating the economy and innovation.
In addition, proposals for a regulation to reduce the infrastructure costs of rolling out high-speed broadband and a draft recommendation on consistent non-discrimination obligations and costing methodologies are also pending.
