The head of Akin Gump’s antitrust and unfair competition practice Mark Botti has joined Squire Sanders in the US alongside two colleagues, antitrust partners Brady Dugan and Anthony Swisher.
Botti, a partner at Akin Gump since 2006, will head the department at Squire Sanders and will continue to be based in Washington DC alongside Dugan and Swisher.
Both Botti and Dugan spent over a decade working for the antitrust division of the US Department of Justice before joining Akin Gump, while Swisher has represented a number of clients in connection with government antitrust investigations.
Squire Sanders CEO Jim Maiwurm said in a statement that expanding the firm’s antitrust practice is a “key strategic goal” for the firm’s Washington DC base.
“As antitrust scrutiny and enforcement continue to rise around the world, the addition of this team to the firm’s existing global antitrust and regulatory capabilities will enhance our ability to support clients in this strategically critical area,” he said.
That hire came weeks after the firm made two lateral hires in its London office to boost its finance offering there (19 December 2012).
