Macfarlanes will keep on all six of its trainee solicitors qualifying this spring, and has increased its salary for newly-qualified solicitors to £70,000, up from £65,000.
Seán Lavin, the firm’s head of graduate recruitment, said: “We recruit and train each generation of our trainees in the hope and expectation that all of them will qualify with the firm and have long careers here. As such we are of course very pleased to have achieved 100 per cent retention this March.”
Last autumn the City firm kept on 14 of its 19 qualifiers. It also announced that is to increase its trainee intake size from 2018, from the 25 it currently recruits to around 30.
So far, ten firms have released their retention figures for spring 2016, with 148 out of 156 qualifiers retained in total. However, a number of the larger firms have still to publish their results.
