Berrymans Lace Mawer (BLM) has picked up two property insurance partners and two fee-earners from Greenwoods, less than a year after the firm merged with Parabis.
Greenwoods lost an eleven-partner team to DWF in October, after insurance giant Aviva raised concerns about the bulk of the personal injury (PI) team joining up with defendant insurance firm Plexus Law (11 October 2013). The partners were joined by 23 legal specialists and 14 support staff at a new base in Milton Keynes.
It is understood that the BLM hires, which include property insurance partners Mark Aitken and John O’Shea, were also prompted by the concerns raised by Aviva.
Greenwoods senior partner Malcolm Henké said: “We’re always sad to see people go but we knew it would happen because they were Aviva dependent.”
Aitken focuses on property and commercial claims involving fraud and related policy coverage issues. He joined Greenwoods in 2007 and became a partner with the firm in 2009. O’Shea worked on both the insurer and loss adjuster side of the market before qualifying as a solicitor.
The duo are joined by two assistant fee-earners also from Greenwoods. They are all based in BLM’s London office.
The appointments come shortly after the firm hired partner Caroline Berens from Kennedys on 5 February.
