Portuguese independent PLMJ is continuing its international focus with the launch of a team focusing on cross-border projects work.
Founding partner Luís Sáragga Leal and partner Sofia Gomes da Costa will lead the new initiative, supported by five lawyers. The team includes new associate hires Lin Man and António Cid.
Man, who is bilingual in Portuguese and Mandarin, joins the firm from JKLM Advogados and will focus on the Chinese market. PLMJ also has an association with China’s largest law firm Dacheng Law Offices and an existing Chinese desk.
The international projects team will specialise in deals such as forward funding contracts, acquisitions with income guarantee, sale and lease back operations and investment funds in sectos including energy, oil and gas, and finance.
Meanwhile, PLMJ has also recently hired consultant Vicente Voigt de Oliveira for its German desk. Voigt de Oliveira was previously a partner at German firm Görg and will sit within PLMJ’s corporate and M&A team. He is German qualified and holds dual German and Portuguese nationality.
The firm’s German desk now consists of five lawyers, advising local clients working in Germany and other German-speaking markets as well as German clients with a presence in Portugal.
