Herbies adds Slater & Gordon partner to disputes team

Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has turned to Slater & Gordon for a partner to help lead its London white-collar crime team.

Rod Fletcher will join HSF’s London office in April as co-head of the corporate crime and investigations team, and will share the role with partner Graham More. Fletcher joins from Slater & Gordon (formerly Russell Jones & Walker), where he has been since 1985, and rose to head of its business crime and regulation team.

HSF’s London corporate crime team contains two more partners on top of More and now Fletcher – Susannah Cogman and Dan Hudson – and works as part of a broader group that covers contentious financial services regulatory, bank litigation and public law. According to the firm, HSF is now looking to establish a New York investigations practice, following its office launch there in 2012 (2 August 2012).

News of Fletcher’s hire, comes following a string of departures from HSF’s litigation practice. Most recently, it was reported that partner Simon Bushell was leaving to join Latham & Watkins (7 February 2013), while of counsel Nichola Peters has announced that she is leaving for Addleshaw Goddard (7 February 2013).
