Anthony Collins continues recruitment drive with managerial hires

Birmingham-based Anthony Collins has continued its recruitment investment plan with the hire of Rob Adams as its first head of risk and compliance.

Adams’ appointment marks the firm’s 17th hire over the past nine months. His appointment follows the hire of IT head Paul Harker in July 2012. Harker has been tasked with developing a new IT strategy, which is set to drive forward greater efficiencies at the firm. The strategy is expected to be delivered by the end of April.

According to senior partner Romaine Thompson the two hires have boosted the support of the firm’s internal management and will prove instrumental in supporting the firm’s lawyers in their day-to-day work.

“A strong internal management team is as important as a strong legal team. I expect our standard of service to go from strength to strength over the coming year,” she said.

The managerial hires come after the firm hired four new legal assistants, three associates and three senior associates in recent months. The latest hires bring the firm’s total number of fee-earners to 138.

For Thompson, 2012/13 was always going to be an investment year at the firm, but she said she has been particularly encouraged by the number of lawyers that have decided to return to the firm over the past nine months.

“It’s also been very encouraging to find people coming back. People move for all kinds of different reasons and it’s been such a positive thing to see people choosing to return to the firm and it must mean that we’re doing something right,” she added.

In the last financial year Anthony Collins’ turnover rose by 9 per cent from £13.2m to £14.4m and the firm’s net profit increased from £2.4m to £3.7m (26 July 2012).
