Irish firm Mason Hayes & Curran has elected litigator Declan Black as its new managing partner, replacing Emer Gilvarry.
Black will take up the role in April 2014. He won a contested election for the position, although the firm would not confirm who stood against him.
Gilvarry has served six years as managing partner, having replaced Declan Moylan in 2008 (11 December 2007). During her tenure the firm has grown substantially, and for the 2012 year recorded revenue growth of 5 per cent to €44.4m (£37.3m) (5 April 2013).
Black has been a partner at Mason Hayes since 1998 and a member of the management team since 2002. For the last six years he has headed up the firm’s litigation team.
It is not yet known who will replace him as head of litigation.
Black said the firm would remain committed to the quality of its client serivice under his watch.
