Shoosmiths hires new senior associates to Manchester real-estate team

Shoosmiths is boosting its north-west real-estate team by bringing two new senior associates as well as a solicitor into its Manchester office.

Matthew Forrest joins as a senior associate specialising in real-estate litigation working with retailers, developers, investors, utility and telecoms companies. Forrest was previously an associate with Hill Dickinson. He is recommended in legal directory The Legal 500 2013 as a property litigation specialist.

His experience centres around complex lease renewals, leasehold disputes, service charge disputes, dilapidations, compulsory purchase and general property disputes and development issues. Forrest regularly works with client management teams early on to ensure client outcomes are at the forefront of all his work.

Real-estate litigation solicitor Sophie Kindon also joins the team. She has experience of acting for landlords, tenants and portfolio holders across a range of sectors including retail, commercial, leisure and telecoms. Kindon was previously at DAC Beachcroft.

Neil Armstrong joins Shoosmiths as a senior associate. He was previously a managing associate in the construction team at Addleshaw Goddard, then a legal director at Semple Fraser and then Weightmans, where he specialised in construction and engineering matters. 

Shoosmiths’ real-estate group is spread over seven offices with a team comprising more than 35 partners and in excess of 230 lawyers and staff. The group is made up of teams advising on real estate, construction, planning, property litigation and environmental.
