Irwin Mitchell has announced the promotion of 10 lawyers to partner, a slight drop on last year’s record promotions round of 14.
The promotions are evenly split between Irwin Mitchell’s business and personal legal services divisions, and come from across the firm’s UK offices.
Among the new partners is head of business development Rosemary Thorpe, a qualified lawyer who joined the firm in November 2010 from legacy SJ Berwin, where she was business development manager for the real estate team. Thorpe moved along with a team of lawyers headed by SJ Berwin’s former real estate head Jon Vivian (9 November 2010).
Last year the firm promoted 13 associates, and also made its communications director Mark Duffell up to the partner-equivalent role of associate director (17 April 2013).
Six of the new partners are women.
The promotions round follows recent news that Irwin Mitchell was launching in Southampton (10 February 2014) and Cambridge (16 April 2014). Chief executive John Pickering recently announced he was stepping down after 37 years with the firm (2 April 2014).
The promotions take effect on 1 May.
