Jeantet builds real estate with Orrick hire

French independent Jeantet Associés has appointed Orrick Rambaud Martel partner Catherine Saint Geniest as a partner in its real estate group.

Saint Geniest’s arrival brings the number of lawyers in Jeantet’s property team to seven.

She joined Orrick in 2006, when legacy firm Rambaud Martel merged with the US outfit (30 November 2005), having been a partner there since 1990.

Saint Geniest advises on transactional and contentious real estate work, including the real estate aspects of M&A, leases, rent reviews and disputes over the finding of asbestos in rented premises.

She is the second real estate partner to leave Orrick in Paris in the past six months. In September Taylor Wessing hired Orrick Rambaud Martel partner Alfred Fink and a team of lawyers to boost its property practice in France (4 September 2012). McDermott Will & Emery also hired a team from Orrick in the summer (6 June 2012).

Jeantet management committee member Thierry Brun said Saint Geniest’s hire was part of the firm’s strategy to grow in areas which its clients considered to be key.

The firm hired TMT partner Arnaud de Senilhes from Nixon Peabody last year (24 September 2012). However, finance partner Alexandre Tron moved to Reed Smith at the end of the year (20 December 2012).
