The former Scotland legal head at Lloyds Banking Group’s business support unit Gaenor Cassell has joined the Edinburgh office of Burness Paull & Williamsons as director of banking and funds.
Prior to working at Lloyds Cassell, who has already started in her new role at Burness Paull, has also worked at magic circle firm Allen & Overy.
Burness Paull is the result of a merger between Scotland’s Burness and Aberdeen firm Paull & Williamsons, which went live on 1 December 2012, creating a firm with a combined turnover of around £37.6m.
The tie-up sees the firm gain equal coverage of what Burness chairman Philip Rodney dubs Scotland’s ‘golden triangle’, with offices spanning Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Burness Paull made its first post-merger hire in December, adding the former head of legal of energy company Sterling Resources Robin Clarkson as a partner to its oil and gas team in Aberdeen.
Cassell was not available for comment at the time of writing.
