RPC media chief joins Mail publisher

Reynolds ;Porter Chamberlain (RPC) media litigation head Liz Hartley is to leave the firm in September for an in-house role at Associated News-papers, publisher of the Daily Mail and London’s Evening Standard.

Hartley will work with Associated Newspapers’ legal director Harvey Kass, as first revealed by TheLawyer.com (4 June).

Hartley said: “This is a hugely exciting opportunity for me to move into the engine room after more than 20 years in private practice, many of which have been spent on work for Associated Newspapers.”

Kass added: “Having benefited for many years from Liz’s special talents as a truly outstanding media lawyer, it seems a natural progression for Liz to be moving in-house, particularly at such a crucial time for press freedom.”
