Sj berwin wins role on kensington sale

SJ Berwin has landed a role advising Elliott Bernard and Sir Stuart Lipton’s Chelsfield Partners on the acquisition of London’s Kensington High Street Commonwealth Institute site for redevelopment. The value of the acquisition has not been disclosed. The deal saw Chelsfield team up with Addison Developments, a company controlled by the site’s freeholder the Ilchester Estate, to develop the site. The SJ Berwin team was led by real estate partner Nick Minkoff. Senior corporate associate Tim Barnett acted on the corporate aspects and joint venture arrangements, while finance associate David Russell acted on the funding. Charlie Anderson, commercial property partner at Farrer & Co, advised the Commonwealth Institute. Russell-Cooke real estate partner Peter Dawson and corporate partner Scott Leonard advised the Ilchester Estate.
