Bond Pearce has launched a permanent London office on the back of its growing strength in the insurance sector.

Managing partner Simon Richardson told The Lawyer that he hopes the new office would also strengthen links with clients in other sectors, particularly banking and energy, and channel work to the regional offices.

Bond Pearce has used serviced office accommodation in the City for the past three years, but has now taken 2,000sq ft at 77 Gracechurch Street, just a stone’s throw from many of the firm’s clients, including a number of Lloyd’s syndicates.

Newly-appointed insurance head Neil Trayhurn, who specialises in professional indemnity (PI), will make London his full-time base. Associate Karen Morrish will also be based at the office from November, following a secondment from Hiscox. PI partner Michael Lent, who joined from Hammonds last year, will split his time between the London and Southampton offices.

Insurance has nine other partners and billed 17 per cent of last year’s £32.5m revenue.

Trayhurn said: “Increasingly our client base has moved, so that it’s now very much London-based.”

The office would enable Bond Pearce to offer competitive and flexible fee arrangements, he added.
