Ladies awaiting

It is somewhat disheartening that out of the 100-odd law firms in the City, only three managed to secure places on The Times‘ ‘Top 50 Places for Women to Work’ list released last week.

The chosen firms – Addleshaw Goddard, Clifford Chance and Eversheds – may have made the list, but like most of their City counterparts, still have a long way to go.

According to statistics from The Lawyer UK 200 Annual Report2007, it appears that Eversheds may be the most deserving of a spot on the list, with 77 of its 333 partners being female (translating to a 23 per cent female partner ratio).

Addleshaws’ female partners account for 19 per cent of total partners, with 34 of its 178 partners being women.

However, The Lawyer UK 200’s number one firm Clifford Chance may have some catching up to do, with its female partner count of 92 accounting for just 14.9 per cent of total partners, which stands at 617.
