Property developer Wessex and City (Dover) is taking Dover Harbour Board to the High Court over cancellation of a joint venture. Wessex is suing the board for fees of £20,000 it claims the board agreed to pay if it pulled out of the deal. Wessex says it lodged a planning application for land at Marine Court, Dover, which is owned by the board, and in doing so incurred costs of more than £47,000. The High Court claim alleges that the board agreed to underwrite fees incurred up to £20,000, and that in late 1998 the board said it no longer wished to proceed. Wessex says that it invoiced the board for £20,000 but has not been paid. It is seeking payment with VAT and interest. Wessex is represented by Jeffrey Green Russell.
