Arbuthnot leaves Govt for a return to the Bar

James Arbuthnot, once tipped as potential Prime Minister by John Major, has returned to practise at 10 Old Square

Arbuthnot, a pensions expert, makes his comeback to the bar after more than a decade in Parliament, where he served as Chief Whip and also masterminded William Hague's general election campaign in 1997. As a former pensions minister, Arbuthnot played a key role in the creation of the 1995 Pensions Act. He joins pensions specialists Leolin Price QC and David Schmitz.
