Garden Court North duo defect to Doughty Street

Alex Durance

The addition of public law barristers Alex Durance and John Hobson to Doughty Street’s Manchester office is part of an ongoing expansion plan for the base.

The set launched in Manchester in August with four Garden Street North barristers: Nick Stanage, Paul Draycott, Farrhat Arshad and Erimnaz Mushtaq. (The Lawyer 27 August).

Chambers director Robin Jackson said Durance and Hobson would strengthen Doughty Street’s expertise in housing and social welfare matters outside London.

Durance, who specialises in housing law, was called to the bar in 1997, while Hobson was called tow years later in 1999.

Jackson added that “further recruitment is imminent” for the Manchester base.

Earlier this month 20 Essex Street’s Tim Otty QC joined Doughty Street in London  (The Lawyer 1 February).
